Resignation Letter

An important job-search rule to remember when resigning from any job is that you never want to leave on bad terms. Courtesy, etiquette, and professionalism go a long way. Don't spend time bragging to co-workers about your great new opportunity. Job-hunting is a funny process, and you never know when you'll run into your former supervisor, a former co-worker, or a former employer through a merger or other circumstance. So, once you are ready to announce your resignation, you’ll need to put it in writing.

Dear Mrs. Smith,

Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am leaving my position with ABC, Inc. on July 1.

Thank you for the opportunities you have provided me during my time with the company. If I can be of assistance during this transition, please let me know.

Sincerely,
